I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 and have purchased a new 500GB external hard drive as the back up process requires space to make a copy of the system as well as backing up the files. I followed the insturction for backing up in the normal way and let it run it's course overnight to find the following messgage this morning; "Windows backup did not complete successfully" followed by "The backup completed but some files were skipped". When I view the skipped files, this list appears on the notepad; Windows Backup skipped C:\Users\Evelyn Timson\Documents because is it on corrupted drive C:\. This will ensure that your system is ready to be backed up with the least chance for errors and less amount of time. Another thing I do is disable my screen saver for the duration.
