Back Up VHD file won't open
My Dell Laptop had a hard drive fail WAY before it's time. I ran a back up and got 60% of the drive to load onto an external 1TB drive. Now I'm trying to pull the information of the external drive and getting nowhere. I tried all the advice I've seen in regards to copying it to another location. I even downloaded virtual pc. It keeps asking me for a boot location. I have 82 GB of information that I can't access! Help!Scott

Hi, Would you please let me know if you want to boot from your external 1TB with the VHD files or just want to copy the files which are backed up in VHD? Please understand if the VHD doesn't include the OS, you cannot boot from it whatever using Windows 7 or Virtual PC. To copy the files from the VHD, you just need to attach the VHD in Disk Management. You can refer the following article with article "What does it mean to create, attach, and detach VHDs?" http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd440865(WS.10).aspx#four Best Regards, NikiPlease remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
