BSODs on a fresh install
I put the computer together the night of April 30th-May1st. First turned on around 5am. Spent the next 5hrs installing Windows 7 x64. Then I installed the drivers for the motherboard, the video card and all the required and most of the recommended updates from Microsoft. Then I installed some basic software for my wireless peripherals and the router that connects to the modem and firefox. Prior to this the install was done with wired peripherals. Anyway, first BSOD was pretty much right after disconnecting both wired mouse/keyboard and plugging in the wireless reciviers. I tried to click on firefox and do something and it BSOD'd almost immediately. 11am 5/1/2012 Seond BSOD was similar. I was wrapping up the installations on Day 2 of some more peripherals I wanted to use. I installed wired USB headphones and USB gamepad, which required a few plug-ins and outs because the installation CD didnt like the peripherals being plugged in. Afterwards I was shift-mousewheeling to increase font size in firefox and it BSOD'd again. I've included both .dmp files in a a .zip located here: http://www.filedropper.com/minidump Computer specs (if they matter): Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 rev 1.3 Intel i5-2500 EVGA 560 Ti FPB 8GB G.Skill Ram Antec 300 Case 128GB Corsaid SSD (OS/main) 500GB WEstern Digital HDD (secondary) All help appreciated; thank you.

1. Whenever you install vanilla plain Windows operating system, start with CHIPSET DRIVER as a first item that you install immediately. (Graphics, audio and network drivers follow in this order) 2. Installation is adviced to do with simple "wire connection", USB keyboard and mouse. Updates follows - let operating system and windows update service do the job until the system is fully updated. 3. If you are about to add USB devices, the step 1 is prerequisite for proper function. Use latest drivers. 4. Here is knowledge base article that solves the problem with BSOD http://support.microsoft.com/kb/980932/en-us Regards Milos

Thank you. 1. After a bit of trouble I ended up using the automated utility on the intel site to check for driver updates. The chipset drivers were up-to-date, but the graphics ones weren't and it was unable to find anything on the other drivers. 2. I installed the rest of the optional Windows Updates, and one of the was a Logitech USB driver update So until I have another BSOD, which hasn't happened in the last 36hrs, I'll call this problem solved. I don't expect to be doing much USB plugging and unplugging in the foreseeable future anyway, now that everything is installed.
