BSOD after hibernation
My netbook (see here for specification: http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_14807.htm?WT.mc_id=2010-07-12-12-18) 'reliably' suffers BSOD when it comes out of hibernation, while it appears to work OK otherwise. Any suggestions?

Can you zip up the minidump files in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder and make available (provide link) via Windows Live SkyDrive or similar site? The following link has information on using Windows Live SkyDrive: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/4fc10639-02db-4665-993a-08d865088d65 If you have problems zipping the minidump files copy the minidump files to another location such as a folder on the Desktop

Thanks for your reply. The Minidump folder on the netbook only contains one small .dmp file (143 kB) and it is dated 8 June, so it looks as if today's crashes (it happened several times today) didn't create dump files. Am I missing something?

The minidump files do not always get created. Can you provide the one minidump file that is available? Also, can you provide a "system information file"?: Start > type msinfo32 in the "Search programs and files" box and press "Enter" > File > Save > then save as an .nfo file Then make the resulting .nfo file available via Windows Live SkyDrive or similar site. BTW, are you able to read the information on the Blue Screen?

Thanks for your further reply. The minidump file is here: http://www.herbeppel.de/files/060810-28189-01.dmp The system info file is here: http://www.herbeppel.de/files/System.nfo I will try and make a note of the information shown on the Blue Screen next time it happens.

Please check it with chkdsk and a diagnostic tool from the HDD vendor. Thanks for your reply. I ran chkdsk and it didn't seem to report any errors, but after completion the chkdsk window closes and disappears. How can I save the output? I don't think I have a diagnostic tool from the HDD vendor.

From the minidump file the error was an UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP_M (BugCheck 1000007F) being caused by the rtl8192se.sys. The rtl8192se.sys is a driver for the Realtek wireless. You may have a bad version of that driver. You can try updating the Realtek wireless driver here (RTL8192SE): http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true#2301 After updating the driver, if you experience any BSODs please provide the minidump file(s)

I updated the driver as you suggested. Hopefully this will have resolved the problem. I'll report back if the BSOD problem persists.

Hi, The cause of this issue varies. For example, BIOS, incompatible drivers, power supply, antivirus software conflict…… First, I suggest disabling your antivirus software to check if this issue reappears. Then you can consider updating BIOS and device drivers from computer manufacturer's website: wireless adapter driver, USB device drivers, Bluetooth drivers. If still no go, to help us narrow down the issue, Certain things you can try are to find out the root cause of the problem are given below. 1. In case that a third party program or service is causing you BSOD, to validate or determine which service/startup item could be causing this, restart the computer and boot to desktop normally. Once done, perform clean boot. Clean Boot prevents software conflicts by preventing the startup items and non Microsoft services from loading. This way you can safely follow the process of elimination to check which application is causing this behavior. Refer: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: Ensure that you put your computer back to normal startup mode after completing the troubleshooting steps. Steps are available in the article given above. 2. If the issue persists, you can try it in Device Clean Boot to narrow down on the hardware side: Device Clean Boot 1. Click Start, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and press Enter. 2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers". 3. Right click on your sound card and then click "Properties. 4. In the dropdown menu of Device Usage, please choose "Do not use this device (disable)" and click OK. 5. Please use the same method to disable other dubious hardware such as: internal modem, network card and CD-R drive. Please note some devices such as video adapter are not available to be disabled. Please show us the result. Regards,Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi Magon Liu Thanks for your comprehensive reply. I don't use this netbook very often, and so far the solution provided by auggy seems to have done the trick. If it happens again I'll provide the minidump file(s) as suggested by auggy and/or try the steps you suggested. Antivirus conflict is probably unlikely since I use Microsoft Security Essentials. Regards
