BSOD, crashing - ATIeRecord followed by Kernel-Power issue

Hey all, I'm going to keep this short and simple until someone can point me to the proper information to send your way to help out.

I've had intermittent issues with my PC since purchase, beginning with an occasional BSOD when playing games.  It wasn't often so I didn't pay it any mind.  But as time went on, it's become more and more common to the point where any benchmark game is causing problems. I'm now running 10 instead of 8.1. I understand this is the 8.1 forum, but the errorr were similar (not exact same descriptions but same chain of events) in 8.1 as it is now in 10.

I've tried clean installs, installing and removing drivers, safe mode.

The issue:  Whenever changing settings for a game, or entering into fullscreen mode I get a BSOD.  I've done the basics: clean install, safe mode, ect.

Light info:  In event log I get this (same order every time when I get a crash/shutdown

Error ATIeREcord 16396

A number of devicesetupmanager warnings

Followed by error Devicesetupmanager 131

and culminating in a critical Kernel-Power 41

I know this is basic info, but once we can head in the right direction, I can provide details or a dmp file if necessary.  Just need to know how many dmp files or what details are needed

Thanks!

Your DMP file coincides with what your event log indicated. The crashes are caused by atikmdag.sys, which is an ATI driver. Please follow Jim-xu's instructions to update, reinstall, or revert to an older more stable version of the driver.

P.S. Your reference to Star Wars earns you a +1

I'll be looking into it more this week (I'm out of town till Monday). I do want to point out I've already rolled back my drivers to two previous versions already and I'm still having the same issue. The other thing is that this type of issue would occasionally pop up in the past. The new drivers might have exsaberated the issue but it did not originate with the most recent update. I'll take a step back one more and see where I am, then follow the provided link.

It seems I am experiencing the same symptoms as you and would like to know your system configuration. Are you perhaps running CrossFire with two AMD graphics cards?

I've gotten the exact error memory code atikmdag+329aa consistantly with 15.7.1 (1002). Note that there are two hotfix drivers for 15.7.1 that update the driver version to 1003 and then 1004. It is the same driver and link from AMD's website and the only clue to the hotfix updates are found is the change list notes. You might want to download the driver again to obtain the latest version.

With the newer 1004 driver the memory location that triggers the BSOD changes to atikmdag+329af for me.

I have also posted my experiences on the AMD forums at community.amd.com/thread/175389. Read through it to see if you identify with any of my symptoms. I'm uncertain if its my unique combination of hardware since I do not see many reports of this problem and yours is one of the first I've found online.

This issue has been present for me for every driver after 13.1, through Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and has gotten much more frequent in 10.

I would suggest trying the older 13.1 drivers hopefully your card is supported as it only supports cards up to the HD 7000 series. If you still experience the issue then it might be a totally unrelated problem to mines but its worth a try.

I am unable to post links as my account is still new or I would have provided the link to the 13.1 drivers. Guru3D.com should have it.
