Hi i have sony vaio on windows 7 home premium. i booted up my PC ant it tells me "BOOTMGR is missing press ctr,alt and delete to restart. is there any way of fixing this without the windows recovery disk

If you don't mind loseing everything you can try useing alt-f10 on boot and see if it will let you do a complete restore of the hard drive. Plus there are a lot of boot cd's that have programs on them to fix the bootmgr. Try Hirens boot cd. Use the following link. http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/
