If you lost the recovery password and are unable to access the disk at this moment, you're lost. Microsoft or HP have no options to recover your data.Ray - Author of Windows 7 for XP Professionals

Q#2-When ever I apply bitlocker, it generates only one key 48bit. I read in technet that there are two keys i.e. r-key and r-password Please advise

When you enable BitLocker, you can create a recovery password (48 characters) and a recovery file. If you saved the recovery file somewhere, you can still decrypt. Else you can only obtain the recovery password from the system while the OS has access to the encrypted volume.Ray - Author of Windows 7 for XP Professionals

if i have enabled bit Locker for my users and something goes wrong in future then I am gone too :( No, you have to make sure that you save a copy of the recovery password. Your easiest option is to store the recovery information in Active Directory. You can configure your systems to do this with Group Policies. If you have no recovery information stored, you will not be able to get to the data if something goes wrong.Ray - Author of Windows 7 for XP Professionals

I have the same issue. I know the password that I used to put in to unlock the drive. But now after reinstalling windows, which I have done before and never been prompted for it before, it asks me to unlock the drive but now it wants a recovery key which I have never had before. The one I have doesnt work so looks like its the wrong one. Is there anyway of getting another recovery key? Like I said I know the password which it always asks me for but not the recovery key which its asking for this time.
