BIOS causing computer to OVERHEAT
Problem: After upgrading to Windows 7, my fan does not run. (might be spinning but I can't hear the usual hum at all) This causes my notebook to overheat to a point that my computer just shuts off. Could Windows 7 be hindering my BIOS and temperature sensor from properly cooling my computer?Tried: Cleaned out heat sync, fans, added Artic5 Thermal Compound.Dowloaded Vista Business Edition BIOS update from Sony.com and Power management Utility software. Both did not properly install.Would love to stick with the beta but running out of options here. Almost ready to go back to the mundane WindowsXP. Any ideas orsuggestions? Thanks for the help in advance.

does sound like a setting, if only you knew what the switch was.found a thing called thermal zone in system devices. But I guess you try safe mode and if it's still too hot give up before the processor does. What was your cpu clock speed?
