And it was working fine before the reinstall of XP? Is this an integrated network interface or is it a card plugged into an expansion slot?Anything in the Event Viewer that might be useful? -B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

No. I've just been looking in the Event Viewer, but there's nothing about my NIC. I've also got a realtek NIC, thats plugged into an expansion slot. In my Device Manager, its not reporting any problem's, but i still cant use it to get online.

O.K., so you've got two NICs. And do you have cables plugged into each? Did you have both before or did you just add one? What IP address does the Realtek have? Were you using the BCM5701 before or the Realtek or both or ?-B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

I'm now trying to use the Realtek NIC card because according to my Device Manager, it's working properly. I got the Realtek NIC because i could"nt get the BCM5701 to work. It worked fine untill i reloaded my system.

Does your switch/router have DHCP enabled or did you manually assign an IP address to your BCM5701? That address is the default address Windows gives a NIC when it can't find a DHCP server. Are you sure the cable you're using to connect the Realtek to your switch is good? -B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook
