Automatic administrative shares on removable devices
I'm responsible for a little network on my job, and we have recently see many users using files in your pen drives connected on the USB ports of computers. For security purposes, I have to open this pen drives, by network by administrative shares (e.g. \\{machine}\D$).But the windows dont make these shares by yourself. That's the question: Can I make the workstations, running Vista or XP Pro, to automatically make the administrative share D$ when a USB pen drive is connected? We suspect of some employees are using our computers to do particular jobs, or stolen data from our network.May someone help us?Thanks!

Hi, Thank you for your post. To keep the network secure, I suspect you may need to block the access of removable storage devices. Meanwhile, I would like to share the following with you: Removable Storage, Group Policy and Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista http://blogs.technet.com/askds/archive/2008/08/25/removable-storage-group-policy-and-windows-server-2008-and-windows-vista.aspx HOWTO: Use Group Policy to disable USB, CD-ROM, Floppy Disk and LS-120 drivers http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555324 Hope this helps.
