My win7 system is connected to the net via a vpn connection. I'm looking for a way to automate vpn connection and perform this automatic connection as soon as possible following a completed startup phase.How can I do it?

I added my username and password to the name of the connection, but looks like this isn't the proper way.

Well, Al Jarvi, thanks, both for your answer and your referral. I went back to RpCahoon's reply, and followed his suggestion to play with various options while being in a command prompt mode. I tried the combination "rasdial connection-name user password" and it worked perfectly. Still, when I included this same combination to the scheduled task specification, the unit didn't step further than letting my hit "connect".I wonder if anyone has a tip or a testing suggestion.

Hi, Do you mean that you want to logon via the VPN connection? If so, please also try this: 1. Create a VPN connection which allows other people to use this connection. 1) Log on as a local admin. 2) Go to “Network and Sharing Center”, the click “Setup up a connection or network” - “Connect to a workplace” OR “Set up a dial-up connection”. 3) Check the checkbox to “Allow other people to use this connection” (so that the owner of the DUN configuration will be System and not your individual user). 4) Complete the wizard and save the connection. 2. Log on using Dial-up Connection 1) After rebooting, press Ctrl-Alt-Delete to log on if prompted. 2) You are presented with the logon screen for the user that last logged in. Press Esc or click Switch User to view other logon options. 3) There will now appear a blue button (Network logon) near the lower-right corner, just to the left of the red Shut Down button. 4) Click the blue button. If you have more than one System-owned DUN configuration, then all of them will appear here as buttons that can be clicked, in which case you click the one you want to use. 5) If prompted, type the username and password for the DUN connection and click the round, blue button to connect. 6) A dialog appears, showing the progress of the connection attempt. 7) After the connection is established, Windows will use the same credentials to log into Windows. Thanks, Nocholas Li, for your detailed suggestion.I managed to solve my problem, but my specific case stemmed from an altogether simpler reason, leftovers from former experiments. I added a shortcut to the vpm connection manually to the startup folder and added a delayed specification using an application named delayed startup. ooks like these items interferred with the scheduled task definition. I managed to delete these sources and the system now logs in automatically as desired.Thanks for your tip.

If you need to connect to a Virtual Private Network at windows startup, and you don't want to have the user push connect or enter the password do the following: 1) On the VPN Connect screen, check "Save this user name and password for the following users" 2) Select the "Anyone who uses this computer" radio button 3) Click "Properties" on the VPN Connect screen 4) On the "Options" tab, uncheck: -"Display progress while connecting" -"Prompt for name and password, certificate,etc." 5) In Windows Explorer, browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup 6) Open a new Windows Explorer and browse to Control Panel\Network Connections 7) Drag the icon of your VPN connection to the Startup folder. This will create a shortcut Now at Windows startup, the VPN service will launch and connect silently.
