Automatic Update does not install automatically
Hi,My Windows Update is set to " Install Updates Automatically".When updates are available, they are downloaded - that is OK.But instead of installing automatically, I get the Update-Icon in the tray and I have toinstall them manually. This was the case again this morning with the "WIndows Malicious Software Removal Tool" which is an Important Update. This happens with my Windows 7 Home Premium RTM 32 bits machine (clean installation) but the same happened already when I was running Windows 7 RC 32 bits as well.I wonder why the installation isn't done automatically.Regards

Hello Picsoe,
Before going any further, Id like to confirm whether you encounter the issue while installing any new update package or just some specified updates. Please understand that some tools or utilities such as Malicious Software Removal Tool, Microsoft Silverlight and so on, as the additional component of Windows system would be released via Windows Update; however the installation would not process the same way as the other update packages. You should give the permission to let them continue, so the prompting box would pop up from the system tray bar. Thanks for your time and understanding!

Even if updates are set to install automatically the tray icon will still appear when updates are available giving you the option to install them manually. Updates are set to install at 3:00 a.m. by default. Set updates to install at a time your computer is powered on. The Windows malicious removal tool will be skipped by windows update untill the license agreement is accepted. From that point onthe mrt will install automatically when new versions become available.
