Automatic Shutdown after backup?
Hello; Is there a way to shut down Windows 7 automatically after a backup is finished? I like to do my backup when I go to sleep, and don't like the computer running so long after the backup is complete. Is there a built-in feature, or a 3rd party app that will do this? Thanks FW

You can make a scheduled task to achieve your aim, you can try the following steps. 1. Click Start, and input Task Scheduler in the start serch bar, then press Enter.2. Click Create basic task in the Action area. 3. Enter a description for the task, and click next. 4. Choose "When a specific event is logged" in the trigger screen, click next.5. Select Microsoft-Windows-Backup/Operational in drop down menu, choose Backup as the Source.6. Enter 4098 as the event ID, and click next. 7. Select Start a program in the Action screen.8. Input C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe in the blank before the Browse button.9. Enter "/s" into the Arguments blank, click next.10 Click Finish. Now you can try to make a backup to test.Good luck!John

Set up scheduled task as per your instructions, but no shutdown after running backup. There were no errors reported for backup or task scheduler in EV. This is not important; I just thought it might be convenient if I want to do the backup at the end of a session. FW

I studied the Event Logs and discovered that the Backup service triggers an event Id of 754 (not 4098 as listed above) when it stops. Try the method above but with 754 as the event id.
