I'm a network engineer for a 2000 user environment. We're running Windows XP SP3 an have both 100Mbps Ethernet and WiFi (802.11g) in our environment. We use AD to push out our Wireless configurations and have them set to automatically connect. According to this KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299540 our Ethernet cards should be using a metric of 20 and our WiFi cards should be getting a metric of 25. However this is not the case.Instead we're seeing that our WiFi cards are getting automatic metrics of 10 and the Ethernet connection is getting 20. Why would the WiFi cards be getting the incorrect Metric and how can we fix this? This is happening on multiple computers in multiple sites. Also, I have disabled the Automatic metric and it appears to resolve the problem, but that is a difficult solution for 1000 laptops. 1 person got this answerI do too
