Auto reply - how to set it up for new incoming mail only???
I tried to set up an auto reply but it turned into a big disaster. Instead of replying to new incoming emails, it sent replies to every message in my inbox. Where did i go wrong?

Did you choose the option to Run Now? If not, what type of email account do you use?Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook]Outlook Tips http://www.outlook-tips.net/Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center http://www.slipstick.comSubscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook weekly newsletter or Outlook Daily Tips

I use outlook express. I went through the create message rules section, but I think my error may have been selecting 'reply to all messages'... not realising it would reply to even old messages in my inbox.

Do not select the options “For all message” under select the condition for your rule instead of that you can select any other condition e.g. where your name appear in To or cc field etcRuchi Bisht

Thanks. still a bit confused. Wont that just send an auto reply then to all my emails with my name in the field (including my old read emails). Is there a rule such as 'sent auto reply to new mail only'? or a date range?

If not, the rule only runs on newly downloaded messages. Set conditions to futher restrict the replies. If you want to use Run Rules now, move the messages you want to reply to into a new folder and run the rule on it - its usually easier that setting conditions.Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook]Outlook Tips http://www.outlook-tips.net/Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center http://www.slipstick.comSubscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook weekly newsletter or Outlook Daily Tips
