Audio Service disabled after Bluetooth USB Module update

I am running Win 8.1 on an Acer Apire V3-571 Laptop

I updated the Bluetooth USB Module drive. Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Bluetooth Devices>Bluetooh USB Module right clicked and updated the drive which installed successfully. However after that:

a) the Audio Service was disabled and the Control Panel is no longer directly accessible.

b)The control panel lands on a blank window and the only way to access it is by right clicking and selecting any available option.

Troubleshooting Audio Service returns "There is a problem with the driver for Bluetooth Audio Service. Reinstalling the driver might fix the problem". Applying the fix doesn't work. Reinstalling the Bluetooth Audio through the same process also doesn't solve anything.

In the Control Panel > Device Manager > Sound Video and Game Controllers the Bluetooth Audio Device displays a caution sign. Attempting to update software returns the following error message

"The Instruction 0xe8351a33 reference memory 0x000000e8 The memory could not be written. Click ok to terminate cancel to debug program." Cancelling fails to debug.

I ran services.msc Start up Type is "Automatic" but the Status is inactive . Initiating Start under "Service Status" returns the following error message:

"Windows could not start Windows Audio Service on Local Computer Error: 0x800706cc: The endpoint is a duplicate."

I also checked

  • Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
  • Multimedia Class Scheduler
  • Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

all three are normal, Start Type is Automatic and their Status is Running.

Just in case I ran an antivirus test through AVG there were no threats detected and a further malicious threat test through Spybot Search and Destroy which only found a few tracking cookies.

I really appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you.

Hi Naftilos,

Considering you are using the AVG, here is a similar symptom for reference.
Windows Audio cant be started, error 1740 (0x800706cc: Endpoint is a duplicate)
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-hardware/windows-audio-cant-be-started-error-1740/d94003a0-aee9-44a0-9d0d-a8931fd45462

According to the error message, the issue is also related to the memory. We can run the built-in troubleshoot tool to have a diagnostic. Search "memory" and choose"Diagnose your computer`s memory problems".

We also cound take S.Sengupta`s suggestion to have a check.

Best regards
