Assign Irda usb device to com port
I have a software package that works with com ports. How do I assign my Irda usb device to a com port so the software package can communicate with it? I am running Windows 7.

Hi, First, please make sure the USB Infrared device is compatibility with Windows 7. You can confirm this with the manufacture. Based on my research, to assign a USB device to com port, a third party software or hardware maybe needed. Please check if the following ones will help: http://www.serial-port-mapper.com/ This can map any serial ports to virtual serial ports. http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm This can make the USB device to appear as an additional COM port available to the PC.
