I have an Aspire 8920 laptop with windows 7 that will not boot up. It gives me the following error when powered on: Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause to fix the problem: 1.Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next". 3. Click "Repair our computer." If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. Status : 0xc000000f Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. So, I put the 7 disk in, but it doesn't boot off it. It just keeps coming back to that screen. I've tried restarting and hitting esc-ctrl-alt, del, f1,f2,f8, and anything else I could think of to get in the bios, but nada! I'm running out of ideas. I also tried a different cd, a Vista cd to see if it was the cd it was opposed to. Same deal. This all started when it did an update to the Acer Arcade. It booted twice and the third time did this. Hi, I know you have tried to get to the bios , but you need to change the boot order so that it boots to the W7 DVD.Restart computer and please keep trying by tapping F1, F2, Delete keys.If you doand are able to make the DVD the first boot device.Go to the repair section andtry and repair the boot loader. It won't let me get into the bios to make it the first bootable device. That's what I was saying. It won't let me do anything, it just keeps coming back to that same screen.

According to the Users Manual for your computer, page 59, you press F2 during POST; while the notebook PC logo is being displayed. I suspect timing if critical so try it several more time, pressing just F2, no other keyboard key. Acer Aspire 8920 Users Manual Rich
