Are Anti-Viruses really must haves? I know a firewall is, but my computer is really slow and the last thing I need is an anti virus constantly scanning everything in realtime. Is it not sufficient just to scan with malware bytes every week or so?I'm very a‌nal about downloading anyway.1 person needs an answerI do too

If your PC is slow then try to defragnment , clean up and run disk check and try to resolve performance issue. Anti-Virus won't make PC too slow, they become faster and smarter and when your PC is busy many of them would reduce usage of computer resource (CPU,RAM, ...) and won't cause performance issue. Anti-Virus is a MUST, to make a PC deeply infected it might take a few seconds and small misate such as download a file that contain Malware or sometimes virus just come when you visite a website such as drive by download issue. And some threats such as Spyware would affect your privacy such as steal data and if they manage to get it then they could steal your password and also some virus would modify internet connection and you could NOT connect to internet. Once your PC is infected they you might NOT be able to run scan at all. And prevention is better than cure. Therefore use Anti-Virus if you want to be protect in this risky digital world. You may try to use Microsoft Security Essentials, it is free and fast:http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/default.aspx

The Microsoft Security Essentials should be sufficient in that it catches most viruses, including remote access tools (RAT), has real-time protection, and does not slow down a computer substancially.Timothy
