Applying group policies
I am in the beta test of Windows 7 and have been trying to get it to join my company's domain, an Enterprise 2003 server. The problem started when I tried using folder redirection in our group policy to move a test users documents to the Windows 7 profile. The Windows 7 test user session will log in and be able to see and connect to all the servers on the network, but the files did not move with it.After some trouble shooting I ran gpupdate /force on the client machine and was greeted with a long winded error. I ran gpresult and came across this error:Group Policy Infrastructure failed due to the error listed below.Logon Failure: The target account name is incorrect.Note: Due to the GP Core failure, none of the other Group Policy components processed their policy. Consequently, status information for the other components is not available.Additional information may have been logged. Review the Policy Events tab in the console or the application event log for events between 1/12/2009 12:10:20 PM and 1/12/2009 12:10:20 PM.I checked the event viewer and found an even 1058 saying this:The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\DOMAIN\sysvol\DOMAIN\Policies\{F3766F1C-DAB9-49BB-83B0-D1F4FB9A9B81}\gpt.ini from a domain controller and was not successful. Group Policy settings may not be applied until this event is resolved. This issue may be transient and could be caused by one or more of the following: a) Name Resolution/Network Connectivity to the current domain controller. b) File Replication Service Latency (a file created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller). c) The Distributed File System (DFS) client has been disabled.
