Application avoiding UAC setting
Hi Everyone, I have developed a windows application that changes files, registries etc. When the application runs under Windows 7 environment (with Admin user) it is unable to perform its writing operations. Which is understandable as my UAC settings are "Default". To achieve the functionality i have updated my application manifest file and introduced <requestedExecutionLevel level="highestAvailable" uiAccess="false" /> which works fine for my application but by doing this a shield icon, appears over my application icon. Secondly when ever i launch the application a warning dialog box with information like "Program name" "Publisher" and "File location" appears along with a message that " Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?" There are a number of forums discussing these issues and reasons why the icon appears or the dialog prompts. My question is that "There are some applications (3rd party) which i have installed on the same computer that changes some files but they dont have the Shield icon over their application icon nor they prompt the "warning dialog" (I discussed above) when executing them". One example for such software is "Textpad (http://www.textpad.com/download/)". Can you please explain how such softwares achieve the functionality? I have explored Textpad Manifest file but there is no such tag found in it. Please guide me in this regard, Thanks & Regards, Maverick.

Hi, Please understand Microsoft doesn’t support for any third party tools on Windows 7 operation system. And also please note third party tools may cause unexpected issue. MS cannot guarantee the safety for these tools. Thank you for your understanding. Seven
