Application UI not opening, started in task manager
I'm having kind of an odd problem with one of the computers at the office. Once Windows is started, applications will start normally for about a minute or so, but subsequent attempts at starting applications fail. By opening task manager at startup, I was able to tell that the applications processes start but their user interfaces never open up. This behavious seems to come and go. I have no error messages when starting the application. It seems as though the the windows simply never open. This happens with all applications and not one in particular : Office 2010 (Word/Excel/Outlook), Paint, Task Manager etc. Some information on the system : -Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1 with all updates. -Latest drivers from Dell website. -Antivirus used is Microsoft Security Essentials. -Jointed to a Domain (Server 2003 ADDC) -Same application suite as installed on the other office computers. Replaced Motherboard, RAM, Hard Drive, Keyboard/Mouse, DVD drive. Formatted and Reinstalled Windows. Any help would be appreciated. Thannk you!

Have you run a virus scan recently? This is very strange behavior indeed! -Alex

Hello Alex, Scans didn't show any viruses. Also checked startup items but nothing suspicious.

I placed a switch between the network cable and the computer, and it seems that this has resolved the problem. I got the idea because the computer worked fine when in my lab. Any ideas as to what could be causing this kind of behavior in Windows?

Hi, I am glad to hear this issue has been solved. Based on my knowledge, switch should only affect the network settings. Whether this issue happened when plug off the network cable? Whether this issue will reoccur when bypass this switch? Regards. Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support
