Apphelp.dll error
I have windows 7 RC. after i installed it there was no problem, a few days ago i started having a problem. IT shows "apphelp.dll error" everytime i try to open a program on my pc. I have used registry recovery programs with no help, scanned for spyware no luck, registry cleaners no luck, even went and replaced the file with a new one and nothing. I cannot use my pc now without this error showing up on multiple programs, every program i click on has this same error. Firefox, myspaceim, windows live im, internet explorer and more. any help?

This dynamic link library file is associated with application compatability.I went to that site and downloaded apphelp.dll. The file they provided had no version information, contained no resources or mui information and was only 97kb when the original was 176kb. The creation date of their file was 1-10-1980. This file was not authentic.I recommend that if system files need to be replaced the source be the install disk.

Hi, Thank you for posting. May I know if the error appeared when you tried to run a specific software, or it appeared on all software? Additionally, please try run SFC to have a check: Type the following command to a elevated command prompt, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. Hope this helps. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT

I tend to get a bit hot under the collar. What's worse - there are people out there who think these sites are legitimate and willingly download and infect their systems. Actually, I think the OP may be lucky provided his cached system files are in good shape. SFC /Scannow - as Nicholas suggested should be able to fix his file.
