Any other non-routable IP segment except 192.168.0.x works for Microsoft Loopback Adapter?
Hello, I install Virtual Server and Microsoft Loopback Adapter on my host operatingsystem,Vista. Oneguest operating system, Windows Server 2003 on thevirtual machine is connected to theMicrosoft Loopback Adapter with ICS. It works well if the Microsoft Loopback Adapter uses the192.168.0.1.The NIC on the guest systemcan getone IP,let's say192.168.0.2, assigned byDHCP and the virtual servernow can access the Internet. But the 192.168.0.x has already been consumed in our corporate network. I change it to 192.168.10.1 or 172.16.0.1 or others.AllFail! The virtual server can't get an expected IP from the DHCP. So, It's impossible to designate any other non-routable IP segmentexcept 192.168.0.x to the Microsoft Loopback Adapter ?

Hi, It is impossible. The IP addresses of the network that is connected to the shared NIC must be in the network section 192.168.0.*.

Oops! I would have no choice but to my network administrator to change the 192.168.0.x to other values usedin thephyical network. Thanks anyway.
