Any home networking issues after the last auto update?
Is anyone having any problems with basic home networking (workgroup and sharing files/folders) after the last auto update around 01/11/2011? It appears that after that update my home network has failed and I can’t reestablish one. I’ve reset my router, disabled all firewalls, disabled fire sharing and re-enabled it, reran the network wizards, etc. The level of “visible” access is also random after each computer restart. When I go under “Microsoft Windows Network” sometimes it shows my home network and sometimes it errors saying that there isn’t one. If my home network is shown, sometimes it will allow me to see the PCs on the network, or only my PC that I’m actively using, and other times it will error out saying I don’t have the correct permissions. If my other PC is shown on the network I can’t access the shared folders because it will always error out saying I don’t have the correct permissions. And my other PC might or might not get further under the "Microsoft Windows Network", but it still stops short of viewing the files on the other PC. I’m running WinXP Pro SP3 clean install 32-bit, all critical hotfixes installed. No software changes at all, AVAST free antivirus updated its definitions but that’s it.1 person needs an answerI do too
