Antivirus not working
I have put Windows 7 on an old computer and I installed one of the anti virus programs that Microsoft suggest which was Kaspersky antivirus 8.0 for Windows workstations beta. After install I did definition update.Action centre keeps telling me that definitions are out of date and A/V program not working. Tried to repair and also to uninstall and keep getting uninstall program not responding. I did have AVG 8 free which was working, thought I might try something different.O/S Windows 7CPU old 478-3.2 gigRAM 512Old O/S was Windows XP pro

I'm using Avast 4.8 Professional, and it's working great. I was using AVG 8 Internet Security, but I wanted something without a firewall so I could use Windows' own firewall. AVG gave me a hell of a time trying to uninstall though... had to boot in Safe Mode.

Hey,I'm currently using Kaspersky and I'm having the same issue. I think the problem is with Kaspersky (as it is still beta), and I suggest that you submit your feedback to Kaspersky in this issue.Avast works without any issue. Zstadt, thanks for the info.I tried to uninstal the Kapersky in Safe Mode and it came up with "you cannot unintal program in safe mode" and I booted up in normal mode and tried to uninstal again. Eventually I got a message that indicated that I needed Administrator Rights to uninstal the program which I did and it uninstalled without anymore hassels.Having come from XP, where generally you can uninstal without problems -Windows 7 obviously has different procedures. I have downloaded Avast 4.8 (free version) - everything seems to be all right at the moment. So, here's hoping things go smoothly from here on in.
