Another Windows 7 Release Candidate?
Just looking around this place i have noticed that hundreds of people have been having major issues with the release candidate. Very little driver support for RAID controllers etc. Will Microsoft be releasing another RC so that people can actually install this operating system ? I myself initially had problems locating a driver for my SATA drives and now my installation hangs at "Completing Installation" and i have had 15 years of experience in programming and building PC's!

Steve - Not likely. There isn't much in the way of time. If you've read the blog that details the release of Windows 7 on October 22nd, it also mentions it's due to go to RTM - release to manufacturing - some time in late July. That's about 6 weeks or so from now. For another build to be put out, there would need to be a build made, it needs to be stress tested using automatic tools, distributed to TAP people to have them give it a preliminary run thru to make sure there aren't any major gotchas.. Then it needs to be put up on the servers and so forth. By the time it'd be ready to go, it's RTM time. Another RC would set that schedule back.

HiWhat you are seeing hereis not an unusual situation.Typically the RC phase of the beta is when the hardware/software manufacturersstart acceleratingto complete building their drivers/apps, since the RC is the phase where the beta is considered code complete. This means that the TAP, IHV, and ISV partnerscan be confident that there will not be any major changes in the beta codethat could render theirproductssuperfluous like we saw in the Beta build. As you probably are already aware, this beta has been following a completely different structure from any previous Windows beta. I doubt very much that we will see another official RC release before the RTM.Regards,Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP
