Another VPN question
Here is my setup I have. I have an ISA Server 2006 appliance at work that I have setup. I have enabled VPN client connections and it was working great, or so it seemed. This happens from both Vista and Windows7 so im not sure if this is an operating system problem or an ISA 2006 problem. Some days I can connect to the VPN using windows builtin VPN connection and it connects fine, i am able to ping anything on the network and can also RDP into servers. Other days I will connect and again it connects fine but I am NOT able to ping anything on the network and can not RDP to anything. Most times I get annoyed and just quit trying and come back the next day and it works. Sometimes I can disconnect from the VPN check/uncheck the IPv6 box on the VPN propertiesand connect again (I will have to do this a bunch of times of disconnecting then reconnecting) and eventually i will be able to ping and RDP. I get no errors what so ever and this is all random. But it is so often that im not able to ping or RDP more than I can. I have no clue?!?!? Thanks for any help.

I dont know if this is the problem or even related but I do know that if a computer is on a different subnet than the rest of the network you can ping ip addresses but name resolution doesnt work. When i connect to the VPN i am automatically given a Dynamic IP from the vpn connection and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.255 but the subnet mask of the netowork is 255.255.255.0. Even if I try to set a static ip for my VPN connection it still doesnt allow me to enter a subnet mask. This is just a thought.

Hi, Thank you for your post. After research, I suspect the issue is more related to the ISA Server. To better address this issue, I would like to suggest that you post it in our ISA Server related forums: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/forefrontedgesecurity/ Hope this issue can be resolved soon. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
