Another Hypervisor is not running...

So, the other day I decide I'm going to install Hyper-V on Windows 8.1 Pro x64 (via the Turn Windows features on or off). But before that I make sure my CPU supports Hyper-V (http://ark.intel.com/products/77780/Intel-Core-i7-4930K-Processor-12M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz?wapkw=4930k - and it does) and then I go into my UEFI and make sure that VT-x is ENABLED, and XD is ENABLED (They had been enabled for quite sometime and I cold booted my machine before hand and several times during my troubleshooting):

I setup my VM and then client on Connect > Start and I'm presented with:

So I double check:

And after search the internet, I get the same answer over and over again: How to install/reinstall Hyper-V via Turn Windows feathers on or off.

So now, I'm not sure where to go. I know my hardware is good, and that it should work... but it's not. So, if you have the time or have an idea of what is going on: thanks in advance.

PS: This is a recent rebuild, fresh install of Windows 8.1 and Office Pro Plus 2013 and various games. No bloatware. (Except for Razer Synapse 2.0)

You should also verify that trusted execution is disabled.

Get coreinfo and verify:

https://smudj.wordpress.com/2011/11/28/does-your-cpu-have-what-it-needs-to-run-hyper-v-3-0-with-windows-8/

download it here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/cc835722

and run "coreinfo -v"

use the -v setting, we don't need the rest of the information.

Hi,

Firstly, follow the contents of the link below to check if hypervisor is running:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee941154%28v=ws.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

Secondly, follow the troubleshooting steps in the thread below for test:

Thanks, for the advice. As I had mentioned in my original post, my CPU does meet all the requirements: http://ark.intel.com/products/77780/Intel-Core-i7-4930K-Processor-12M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz?wapkw=4930k

But here is the coreinfo -v you requested:

Thanks for the suggestion, but as I mentioned in my original post (with the UEFI screenshot) my UEFI is set correctly, and hypervisorlaunchtype is already set to auto (PowerShell (Admin) screenshot).

There were no entries in Event Viewer for Hypervisor:

I've searched Showcase several times for this famous "hypervisor not running error: how to fix" video - which does not seem to exist:

Which is fine, I suspect it would just tell me to set my UEFI settings to settings I've already turned on (as seen in my original post).

My motherboard is a ASUS ROG Rampage IV Black Edition with the latest (non-BETA) UEFI.

I'll keep searching and I'm open to other suggestions.

Can I just have Hypervisor run at start up? I'm in no way hurting for system resources.

According to Coreinfo result, Hypervisor wasn't present. I also mad a research about the CPU type, it support Hypervisor indeed.

In my opinion, you can contact ASUS support to confirm with them if it's BIOS or UEFI setting problem.

The hypervisor is required to start at launch, it's the only way Hyper-V will work.  Since it's not starting, as shown in your coreinfo screenshot, that's the root issue.

Did you verify that trusted execution is disabled?

It's weird right? I've been pretty busy, sorry for the late response. I'll post on their forums and see.

I'll flip the XD to disable and see?

Tried everyone's suggestions, going to check with the ASUS folks now.

Posted on the rog.asus.com forums, but figured I'd give VirtualBox a go. Runs perfect, no problems. This is most likely a Hyper-V issue...

Not a true test, since Hyper-V is a type 1 hypervisor, i.e. goes below the OS and VirtualBox is a type 2 hypervisor so it runs on top of the OS as an application.

VirtualBox has much lower restrictions.

Ultimately, its probably a BIOS related issue, there have been quite a few motherboards that have had issues with Hyper-V due to their implementation, usually a BIOS update fixes it.

Other things to check/try:

Disable USB3

Disable Bluetooth

Set suspend mode to S3 only
