Annoying bug in the GUI of the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security
We manage the firewalls on our Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 systems with Group Policy. For some rules (like File & Printer Sharing and Remote Assistance) we restrict the scope to specific Remote Addresses. Unfortunately there isn't any integration between AD Sites & Services and the Windows Firewall so we have to specify seperate subnets. We have a lot of subnets and when we specify the 17th subnet it isn't visible in the GUI anymore. By this I mean you click on the rule, double click the column 'Remote Address' to see all subnets and then the GUI shows only 16 subnets! If we click on the properties of the rule and go to the tab 'Scope' that 17th subnet (and more) is visible. It look like all settings are being applied so it's only a bug in the GUI, but a very annoying one :-( This happens on the Firewall GUI on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 and both are fully patched. Is there a hotfix for this?

Hi, I am sorry to say that I cannot reproduce your issue. Does this issue occur on other system versions? Could you please capture a screenshot when you click the column “Remote Address” to see all subnets and then the GUI shows only 16 subnets for our further research? Screenshot of the symptom ------------------------------------ 1. Press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard. 2. Click the "Start" menu, type "mspaint" in the Search Bar and Press Enter. 3. In the Paint program, click the "Edit" menu, click "Paste", click the "File" menu, and click "Save". 4. The "Save As" dialogue box will appear. Type a file name in the "File name:" box, for example: "screenshot". 5. Make sure "JPEG (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JFIF)" is selected in the "Save as type" box, click “Desktop” on the left pane and then click "Save". I've posted the same question on the Windows Server 2008 R2 forum and there someone can reproduce the bug. Can this thread in the Windows 7 forums be closed and shall we continue the discussion in Windows Server 2008 R2? http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserversecurity/thread/4da22f4e-5f63-4704-aba0-06298eea760e

Hi, We will report this issue to our related department. Thank you for your information. Also, customers with a Premier contract with Microsoft can submit a DCR (Design Change Request) to request product teams to review the design based on your business case (filing a DCR does not guarantee changes to design). As you stated that there is a duplicate thread with the same issue, I will lock this one. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
