Annoying Virus
Im afraid I have picked up an annoying virus. It runs a full screen image viewer and I can find no information on it from the system. It has also installed the google viewer. Its name seems to be "Clickpotato". How do I get rid of it? Renee

Ok, I have a one month old backup of the system. Does anyone know the name and location of the IE8 favorites file in Windows 7? My outlook which is effected is on a different disk. Renee

Try malwarebytes, spybot serach and destroy. But firs try to use a diferent user profile, use msconfig to disable all start up items. use process explorer to find bogus running processes and suspend them while you scan your computer. search the registry with the same unc path of the bogus running processes, and delete the entries. For example, SVChost.exe runs only as the system, if you find svchost.exe running as the currently logged in user, it means is a virus, or bug disguised. read about the findings before you remove them to see if the removal might cause other long term effects. I know Windows well. I just got tired of the virus and did a restore on my system. It works well and my system has not lost a single mail file because the mail file is on a different disk. By the way, the full screen viewer the vrus installed prevented me from determining what the bogus processes were. I had already checked the rregistry and msconfigure and found nothing there. Renee
