An Annoying Exe File Auto delete problem!
Hello, recently i've tryed to download a zip file with an .exe file in it. At first, I clicked open (I used WinRar to open the zip file) and I extracted the contents to a file in C:/ drive. Once extracted, I noticed that the exe file was missing and all the other files were there. So, I went and redownloaded the zip file and saved it to the C:/. Once saved, I opened the Zip file with Winrar again and highlighted the .exe file and retried to extracted it and I also monitored the file that the exe was suppost to be in. I noticed that once it got done extacting, the exe file appeared for 1 second and disappeared. I tried extacting over and over again and the same results. I went online and download 7-Zip (Another Zip file opener) and tried extracting using that, same results. I thought that it might have a virus or something. I turned off Windows 7 Firewall, D.E.P., and Avast Anti-Virus. Same Results. Also when I was using WinRar, an error popped up saying that the file could not be excuted sometimes. The zip file can be saved on my computer with the exe file in it, but when I try to extracted it outside the Zip file. It disappears fast. Please help me! I don't care if there is a virus on it at this point. Please tell me how to fix it.

Hi, In order to determine the issue, please perform the following tests. 1. Extracting the file into other drive or folder and check if the exe file will be deleted automatically; or try another zip file which has a exe file in it and see how it works. 2. Please try using your current account to extract the file in Safe Mode and check the results. 3. Log on your Administrator Account to check. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I tried step 1, it still deleted. Step 2: I don't know how to do that Step 3: Ive been on a admin account. I also don't think WinRar has a safe mode.

At first, safe mode would not start, then I lost power real quick and started the computer, then I toggled safe mode, and extracted the .exe file, It did not delete. It worked, I restarted and the file was still there. I go to use it after restart and a error message pops-up an says this file can not be found, then deletes again. Also- the other files didn't delete, only the .exe file did.

Hi, The issue can be caused by following factors: 1. Virus. 2. Your Anti-Virus applications may detect the exe file as virus and have the policy to delete virus automatically. Therefore, you can try these methods to determine the issue. 1. Running your security applications to scan your system to check whether there are viruses in your system. 2. Boot your system into Clean Boot Modeto check whether your Anti-Virus applications delete the exe file. 3. If above methods failed to help you, you can run resource monitorto detect which process did the track. Hope this helps. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
