Always get error code when retrieving mail
I am having one problem in retrieving emails from pop3 server. It always gave me error for two emails. The message is something like: Server Response: -ERR Can't get the letter xxxx, try again later'. The Error Code is: 0x800420CD and Server Error: 0x800CCC90.I can still retrieve other emails and send emails but every time I connected to pop3 server it gave the error message for two mails even though it could still get good emails after giving the messages. So, it is kind of annoying. Is there any way we can get rid of the messages? I dont care about recovering those two messages. As long as I can remove them some how so that it will not generate the messages again it is good enough.Right now, because it could not get those two emails, I can not delete them. Does anyone know something? Thanks.Wayne 1 person needs an answerI do too

Who is your mail server? Please post any error message in its entirety. You can left click on it to highlight and then right click to copy and then paste it into this thread.Bruce Hagen ~ MS-MVP [Mail]

Well, the other parts of the error message are in different language. I am helping a relative over the other continent to manage his computer. So, the entire message will be like that following, based on my understanding, but may not be so accurate:Can't retrieve email #205. Account: 'pop.126.com', Server: 'pop.126.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Can't get the letter 1tbiXQYGD0PocUbrsgAAbX[93], try again later', Port: 110, Security(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Code: 0x800420CDI guess pop3 must support commands to delete specific emails since Outlook Express may also need to send such commands to remove email from the server. But I dont know what the commands are and how to send it over with basic Windows tools without using something like Outlook Express. I just want to remove the emails so that no errors every time. It is kind of annoying to see them every time.Thanks.Wayne

What is that, a Chinese server? I thought you were using Outlook Express. Whatever e-mail client is in use, a wild guess id that there is a corrupt or very large e-mail on the server that won't download. The reference to e-mail #205 makes me think so. Can the person you're helping log on to the server's Webmail site and delete the offending message?I they were using OE, I would also suggest a temporary message rule like this one.Where the message size is more than sizeDelete it from ServerClick on Size and set it for about 2MB.Click: Apply Now.Go back to the Inbox and click Send/Receive. This should get rid of the message.Remember to go back into Message Rules and either delete the rule, or uncheck it so you can use it in the future. just a thought. Maybe it will help you come up with something.Bruce Hagen ~ MS-MVP [Mail]

I did not set the rules but I did go to Webmail site to mark all the emails as "read". It seems that has solved the problem. Thanks.Wayne
