Always fail to install new update with 8024200D
!!! PROBLEM This code indicates SUS_E_UH_NEEDANOTHERDOWNLOAD. My system is Vista 32-bit enterprise SP2 on Thinkpad X61S. I just reinstall a new image since yesterday, then install a lot of windows updates with system update, Chinese language pack, laptop drivers and applications. This problem seems like happen after installing SP2 (but I can't remember exactly), every time using windows automatic update, it downloads and installs the update, but finally fails with the same failure code. There are two interesting clues: 1 When download individual update from Microsoft website and install it with "Windows update standalone installer", it can succeed. 2 The problem only applies to "Important update", while if I select "Optional Update" only, it can succeed. !!! WHAT I TRIED There is a similar thread when installing Vista SP1 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/itprovistasp/thread/0f7ab779-d207-4414-9248-9a4e447ace14/). I tried many of its methods but still can't fix this issue till now: 1 Run checkSUR with "System Update Readiness Tool". 2 Run "sfc /scannow" to recover the corrupted system files. Do you have some advice to me? Thank you so much in advance! I'm wondering whether I should reinstall a new image, but it requires a lot of re-work. Perhaps I can tolerate it but it is really very annoying to me.
