Alternative configuration takes very long to be applied
Hi Forum, my NIC is set to DHCP and I have an alternative configuration that should be applied when no DHCP server is present. Basically it is working fine. Only the time it takes until the alternatative configuration is applied is annoying. It takes up to 2 minutes. Any ideas on how I can shorten this? TIA Alex

Hi Alex, I think it will take some time to find if the DHCP server is available or not then choose to use the alternative one. It's also related with the connection between the computer and that alternative address. I suggest you use the Network Monitor to capture the traffic, it could give you more details and hints. Hi Miya, I am aware of this, but shouldn't there be a registry setting that tells Windows on how long it shall try to find a DHCP server? I believe that after this timeout it uses the alternate configuration, right? Alex
