Alternative File Explorer instead of Windows 7's explorer
Hi I really don't like the windows explorer of windows 7 as I'm not really comfortable with all the views and also the status bar became useless. Also the information pane does not give me the total file sizes of more than 30 selected files...etc Is there any alternative to that explorer that can give me the same look, feel and functionality of Windows XP explorer, with a double pane view that can show me 2 folders side by side @ same time and with a folder tree on the left? Of course not to mention the file sizes to be shown whether I'm selecting 1 file or 100's of files. Big shame on Windows 7 explorer. It is several steps back into the past and it lacks a lot of customization and/or features.Maged

There might be but I have no trouble viewing file sizes in the window, or the total size of all files selected (by clicking and enabling the status bar from the view options). But maybe this app is kind of what you're looking for maybe? http://www.downloadsquad.com/2009/12/23/get-windows-xp-style-start-menu-and-explorer-in-windows-7/ However, as with anything beta or 3rd party app, use it at your own risk.MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Hi, To show total size of more than 30 files, there is a "Show More Details" option in the Status bar, click it and you will see file size. To open a folder in a new window, you can right click on this folder and choose open in new window. To get folder tree on the left, Click Computer in the left pane, expand it and the folder tree will be listed.Vivian Xing - MSFT

Vivian's correct, its just an old habit of mine to customize my views and I've been doing that since windows 1.0 days so I don't think about it much. After a while it really doesn't matter which version of windows you get, its basically all the same even if they change how views and folder options are arranged.MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Don't know is anyone will check back on this, but I do not see the 'show more details' option and would desperately like to be able to see folder size somehow. If you got this to work please let me know.
