I have a user who running Vista Home Premium on a Dell laptop. We installed iTunes for him to be able to access his music while on company trips. He attempted to upgrade while on a trip last week and it failed. He brought it in this week and we removed iTunes completely, and all of the associated Apple software. We thought we were done with it until I tried to print a pdf file from the network share. It kept telling me access denied. Upon further investigation I discovered that all of the files and folders below C:\Windows\System32\Spool have no permissions set what so ever! At this point no other folders seem to be affected. I know I can use the ICACLS to fix this but I'm unsure what to set the permissions to. Ideas? TIA JC

Thanks for the input David, unfortunately it did not work. After doing a little more research we found that upgrading or uninstalling two programs, iTunes and Adobe Acrobat Reader, could be responsible for the the problem we were experiencing. Somehow the permissions turn up changed on a fair number of folders, sub-folders, and important system files. We tried to ICACLS but the problem was to pervasive; we ended up re-imaging the machine and cutting our loses. Thank you, JC Collins
