Hi, I have downloaded a trial version to test this issue, and I found it is compatible with Windows 7 64bit. Have you install the update for Age of Empires II Expansion? If not, please install the update to check the result. Due to this game only supports 800x600 graphics, please try to adjust the screen resolution down to 800x600 to try again. If the issue persists, please launch it in Clean Boot mode. Meanwhile, you could contact the Microsoft PC game support for further help: Age of Empires Solution Center Hope it helps. Hello, I've had an extremely similiar issue with my Age of Empires II. Age of Empires II: The age of kings, starts perfectly fine with no issues even when not in compatibility mode. But when i try to start Age of empires II Conquerors expansion the game doesnt even get to a load screen it instantly crashes and gives me the windows message "Age of empires II the conquerors expansion has stopped working". No matter what i have done it has always simply given this message and never gotten past a black screen or anything. Ive compared AOE folder too a friend who has the game and has it running to make sure it is installing correctly and them seem to be identical. Here is a list of the fixes i have tried: Restarting my computer Clean booting as described above making a new user account running in compatability mode reinstalling the game with cd's using 4 different cracked version lowering my resolution to 800x600 downloading all updates for windows downloading new drivers for my graphics card running game as administrator running a .bat file that ends my explorer when it starts (sounds weird but some forum told me to try it) reseating my ram If you have ANY idea at all please let me know, i will try most anything, but i am reluctant to format my hardrive (only as last resort) Computer specs: Windows 6 home premium x64 (service pack 1) Intel i7 920 @ 2.67 6gp ram Nvidia 460 there are 76gb free on my harddrive Much appreciated, Phil

I tried all of the solutions above and I got the same problem too. One thing I tried was moving the game to another folder and launching it, but now I'm getting a virus alert on: age2_x1.exe and empires2.exe. So I put them under exeptions so see what happens when the game launches, it doesn't crash like it used to do. Instead, it freezes on a black screen. Don't know if this virus thing as something to do with the original problem. Does anybody have a clue on this? Thank you, Cokolada
