After virus removal certain programs cannot access the web?
I had the TrojanAV virus a few days ago but removed it using Malwarebytes. Computer has been fine since with 1 exception: Certain programs cannot access the internet. Firefox and Flock browsers are working fine and Norton is able to update its definitions as well. Opera, Weatherbug, Sidebar and its gadgets, Flight Simulator, IE 7 and Messneger cannot connect. This is actually the 2nd time this has happened. The first time I was told to go to the command prompt-->run as administrator-->type "netsh winsock reset" and then restart the machine. Worked great and everything back to normal. This time its not working though for some reason. Any ideas out there??? Also, just to be clear...all the above mentioned programs launch just fine, they just do not have internet access for some reason. Strange that some retained it and some did not. Thanks for any help!

Try to reset Internet Explorer go to tools and then internet option and advance tab and click reset About your case of infection , I suggest that remove Malwarebyte if it is Anti-Virus, put two or more Anti-Virus in same PC cause problem. I also suggest that you contact Norton support and ask them to help, you might need to do some reset and configration after remove this Trojan. Also check your firewall and make sure it allow the rule of connection of these applications.

Tried the reset, no joy. Since IE was only 1 of the programs unable to communicate think its something other than that though. The infection was removed. I only have Norton running as the anti-virus.

Norton turns off the Windows firewall right? So that there is not a conflict between them? I say this because the Windows firewall is off.
