After the last update, I can't use my DVD drive...
Even if the drives are known in the BIOS and the stuff manager... I can't use them anymore!!! I tried to download drivers for the drives (SATA), to unplug them, etc. Nothing is working...... it seems that the update of windows 7 are based of the same **** that BIOS, if it runs well, don't update :@Someone have an idea?

Try uninstalling the drivers.1. Click START2. Right Click MY COMPUTER (or COMPUTER)3. Click Properties4. On the side click DEVICE MANAGER5. Click the Arrow beside DVD/CD Drives6. Higlight the Problematic Drive7. Right Click and Click Uninstall8. Click Yes to Uninstall9. Reboot computer and the device should work again. P.S. Some devices (Graphics Cards, CD/DVD Drives, Ect...) Dont work after an update from Windows Update. You should use the Devices Manufactor website to update.

I've already try that and Win7 cannot install correctly the driver for my DVD drives... It crashed my emulated drives from Daemons tools also..Damn... I was so glad to run Win7 on my PC until that. I thought that it was bullet proof, but maybe not huh ;)I'm getting pissed...I can't even find some usefull driver for my LG GSA-H62 drive. Even on the LG website. There are many website that talked about driver but without anything to download. I feel like my grandmother (supposed to work and don't), the bug is that I use PC since I'm 10 (now i'm 27).Have an other idea? Thanks a lot dude ;)

flash your bios. I dont really know. I would just downgrade back to vista and WAIT till 7 is released. by that time there should be proper updates for your drive.

Hi Vincyboy, Old Daemons tools version has incompatibility problem with Windows 7. Did you install the latest version? My suggestions: 1. Remove deamons tools from computer. 2. uninstall dvd driver if possible. 3. Restart the comptuer. If it still doesn't work, we will focus on the filters in regisrty. Hope it helps.

I have the same problem and on 2 different computers. One acer, one toshiba. The problem seemed to happen at the same time. I can't even use a portable usb dvd drive. The drivers are up to date. I even re-installed my windows on one of my computers, and the dvd worked fine. As soon as I installed all of the updates the drive, and portable drive quit working.

D'oh!!!I was about to try the same thing than you (usb drive)... I think we're screwed man...But you know, the official version is coming out soon. 3 weeks without DVD is a pain in the a** but we gonna survive. I must admit it is not a good start for win7, but I will buy it anyway.Microsoft have such a poor "after sell service" and their product usually not well built, BUT, what choice do we have??????????

Also, consider the following MS KB article (you can follow the steps for Vista which should also work for Windows 7):http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

I had the same problem today not having my computer recognize dvd drives. The problem was solved quickly by the Microsoft Help and Support website at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060#letmefixit . Simply follow the directions on that site at Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs. I was using Windows 7 RC but followed the website's advice for Vista and it worked. The site has comparable advice for XP and other Windows versions.
