After reinstall Windows 8 private network disappeared

I had a headcrash in the bootsector. So we reinstalled windows 8 pro.

Now everything is working fine again, only there is no private network anymore.

This is a disaster because most of the metro-apps check if there is a network.

the troubleshooters on the network card and the homegroup tells me I don't have any problem to solve.

Yet I cannot install a home group and share my printer with the rest of the family.

Before the crash it was working fine, so it must be possible to get back to that state again.

Why is there no procedure anymore to make a network?

Why none of the related problem give steps to reset the situation to before the crash?

I have installed Fiddler, so at least i can install new apps from the windows store, but still i am very unhappy?

I have a Realtek PCIe GBE family controller. The ACER website does not give an updated driver for windows 8, so it should be PnP. There is a recent driver available for windows 7 but the computer does not install this while using windows 8.

Hi,

Try to enable Turn on file and printer sharing and Network discovery. Also reinstall network adaptor driver to test the result.
