After installing Norton (Symantec) security and upgrading to Outlook Express 8, I cannot receive or send mail
After installing a new Norton security system - from my mail server, I also atttempted to update Outlook Express 6 to OE 8. I now get the following error message:Unable to logon to the server using Secure Password Authentication. Account: 'Bills Mail', Server: 'Mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid command', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18 I can't receive or send mail. I still have my existing addresses but nothing else opens. I have checked my ISP account info. along with security I.D. and all is OK. I have tried to re-enter all accout data several times without any effect. I have closed the Norton security for both incoming and outgoing mail and this didn't have any effect either. I have cleaned up all data in my file, still no help.

Please clarify some things for us:1. You've posted your message in a Windows 7 forum, but Outlook Express isn't available on Windows 7. What version of Windows does your computer have?2. Outlook Express 6 is the final version of that program, and there isn't a version 8. What does it show for the version number if you start Outlook Express and click Help > About Microsoft Outlook Express ?Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional
