After connecting to VPN: can ping, can't browse
Hello. Once I connect to a VPN, I am able to ping machines by domain names, but I am unable to simply browse the internet. Error: HTTP/1.1 504 Fiddler - Receive Failure Content-Type: text/html Connection: close Timestamp: 18:39:00.500 ReadResponse() failed: The server did not return a response for this request. This stopped working sometime in the last 3 months, but I blamed it on my ISP. However, I am now away from home, and able to use the VPN from a different machine, but not from mine. I tried disabling my Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, but this didn't help. I've had this anti-virus software for a year now, and it was working before. The biggest clue is in my router's log (read from the bottom up) (this gets added to the log once I connect to a VPN) Dec 26 19:01:16 2010 Firewall Setup Firewall internal Firewall configuration succeeded Dec 26 19:01:16 2010 Firewall Setup Firewall internal No IP for NAT - connections may fail [repeated 4 times, last time on Dec 26 19:01:16 2010] Dec 26 19:01:16 2010 Firewall Setup Firewall internal Starting firewall configuration Which got me to check my ipconfig. http://ciul.org/stuff/ipconfig.jpg Could you tell me what all these tunnel adapters are? Then, I checked my port forwarding table on the router, and I saw some (probably UPnP) entries. My machine is 192.168.1.4 http://ciul.org/stuff/forwarding.png Sooo ermmm, I'm a bit stuck. Any help will be appreciated Fil

Hi Thanks for the reply. I cannot control what happens on the server, but I imagine everything works on that side, as I can connect to the VPN from other machines. I've done steps 2 & 3, and for step 4: If I wanted all traffic to go through the vpn, would I have to 'route add 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 <MY GATEWAY>', 'route add 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 <VPN SERVER>', or something else? Thank you, Fil

before connecting to internet ,enter this commands in CMD net.exe stop "network connections" net.exe start "network connections" if u still have the problem , disconnect from the vpn and internet , then copy this commands into a .bat file and execute it...;) but i dont know what happens exaclty and why it fixes :-" ECHO Off REM This is actually a Batch file but REM there was no catagory for this. REM This batch file resets the network REM for the local computer, then restarts REM the Network Services. It also creates REM a file with the new IP Address. ipconfig.exe /release net.exe stop "dhcp client" net.exe stop "dns client" net.exe stop "network connections" net.exe start "dhcp client" net.exe start "dns client" net.exe start "network connections" ipconfig.exe /flushdns ipconfig.exe /renew IPConfig.exe /all >> C:\IP_Info%date:~-4,4%-%date:~4,2%-%date:~-7,2%.txt Notepad.exe C:\IP_Info%date:~-4,4%-%date:~4,2%-%date:~-7,2%.txt
