After booting a new Win 8.1 (64bit) mini computer ( 32GB SSD ), Windows update takes up 10GB

hi all - I just bought a mini computer with 32GB drive [19GB free + 6GB recovery partition] thus approx. 7 GB for the Win8.1 install --- after doing Windows Update, just once, now I'm down to 8GB free.

This seems rather excessive since the Win Update downloads were less than a Gig - I've checked with Disk Recovery to see what I could delete, but only found about 400MB of Windows Update backup files. I thought at first it was just a reporting error, but after rebooting a few times and 'trimming', I'm still at 8 GB free.

any ideas what mushroomed!, and how to free some more space?

Delete all contents from the next folder and your computer's drive will get more free space.

Hello xkater,

Please check which folder or file are occupying large amount of space.

Please try the suggestion as T. Kujala mentioned.

thanks for the reply - only 200MB in that folder, though

there are a great number of RCoRes64.dat files (70,423Kb) in windows\system32\driverstore\filehistory that take up about a GB, but still can't find where all my other 10 GBs went

thanks again
