After XP loads, it takes 15 minutes before any programs will start
After XP loads, it takes 15 minutes before any programs will start. It's a little different sometimes. Most of the time, it looks like the computer has booted up normally. But, when I click on IE or any other program, it looks like it is starting and then just stops. I can move the mouse around but when I try to do anything, nothing happens. After 15 minutes, all of the programs start opening. Very strange. Sometimes I get the hourglass when I try to click on the start menu, taskbar, etc. I have spent some time trying to research this, but have had no luck. I read something that says it may be the spooler or it was related to a shared printer? But, the way to resolve it was not for Windows XP so I didn't want to get into trying to change the registry. Here is the link I was referring to. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/55925-45-server-service-hung-startup Anyone else experience this issue? I am using Windows XP home. Thanks in advance for your help. 1 person needs an answerI do too

Running more than one antivirus or antispyware program that has real-time monitoring can cause problems like this, and I've seen some antivirus programs cause very slow startup all by themselves. What program(s) do you have? If you can get it to run when the problem is occurring, Process Explorer from Windows Sysinternals can show what programs are using the CPU.Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional
