After FORCED upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 NONE of my installed games work.

After FORCED upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 NONE of my installed games work. I did not want this upgrade, did not request this upgrade and certainly did not give permission, now all of my games don't work but merely lag so slowly they are unplayable. How dare you treat MY laptop as your own personnel property? Tell me how to fix this or a smalls claims court action to recover the costs of the now defunct games (approximately 320) will be served.

Hi RedPedant,

Thank you for posting this issue on the TechNet community forums.

I'm sorry to hear that your computer upgraded to Windows 8.1 without your permission and you're not the only person experiencing this problem. I agree, Microsoft really should address this.

However, since your computer has already upgraded all I can suggest is to follow the instructions on this article to downgrade back again (it should take about a day or so, but at least it's possible):

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-do-upgrade-to-windows-8-1-how-to-downgrade-back-to-windows-8/

Once downgraded, be sure to prevent it from upgrading again:

http://www.askvg.com/how-to-stop-automatic-forced-upgrade-from-windows-8-to-windows-8-1/

Hopefully these articles will be of some help to you. If they're not be sure to post back here so we can look into this further. A polite word of advice, though, people like me dedicate time and effort to help people like you fix complex computer problems. Most of us don't get paid for this and while we understand your frustration it would serve the community, and yourself, a lot better if you were to phrase future requests for help more politely.

Hi Red,

Sorry to hear that your games are not working after this upgrade. Since this upgrade from Windows 8 to 8.1 is more likely a process of Windows update, as what has been mentioned by Zach the upgrade might skip the permission if you chose download and install Windows updates automatically. There might be compatibility issues between Windows 8.1 and software installed on your computer, before you take any action, we suggest you check the game website to see if any patch has been released by game manufacturer.

Regards,

D. Wu
