After Automatic Update of 8.1 Pro. I can't access my BIOs w/F2 or F12. Most drivers were uninstalled. and DISM.log is a disastor.

Please see my post under: I may be mistaken but I might have found the answer to most of the problems. Please let me know.

I should have edited this post instead, I replied to it so it isn't easy for follow.  However in that post I wasn't sure what would happen it I went into - PC Settings under - Update and Recovery - next choose Recovery - Next Option was to choose the Advance Startup.  I found that Windows 8.1 is a very different OS in many ways.  I was able to answer this question as well as the questions I had in the above post and I posted everything I was able to do to have a clean great running Windows 8.1 Pro. Thank you.

I  called Microsoft Answer Desk as I was on the phone looking for information as to how to find the compatibility system test to update to Windows 8.1 as well as what I should look for as issues with this upgrade. I received the automatic update during the phone call. It became clear to the tech after I showed him the C/$Windows~BT. folder was created which only meant that the upgraded to 8.1 had downloaded and would install as soon as I restarted the system. So he placed a support call to the level 2 group. I can't even begin to explain how upset I was that not only did this happen without being warned but this tech nor the level 2 tech could tell how to remove it.  I was told the only way to stop the upgrade was to turn off automatic updates. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of keeping a system updated and protected?  I was told it would be 2 days before they would get back to me.  I was very upset. When I hung up.  I felt I had no choice but to turn off or restart the system and just find out what had happened.  After the restart it was clear that I had a new OS installed, with questions regarding which Wifi to connect to and the next pages walking me through a Windows setup.  I surprisingly received a call back 30 minutes later from a really nice level 2 tech.  He really tried to help me calm down told me to backup my files.  Then he downloaded a retail version of Windows 8 Pro (Which was originally installed on the system after formatting my Windows 7 Ultimate OEM).  He called back tonight and I tried to find out why I could not access my BIO's he did have any answers.  I told him that since I had installed the Windows 8 Pro, I had only installed Intel RST driver but that I had not yet set up the cache on the m-ssd.  However each time the system was restarted with Windows 8 Pro I could see Intel RST screen with each startup as it should have been, as will as the F2 and F12 options on the right corner of my next screen.  Since I can't see that any longer I tired to explain that I am concerned about setting up the caching to the m-ssd.

A lot of device drivers were uninstalled such as the NVIDIA GeForce, Printers, Intel USB 3 controllers, Realtek Card Readers, and most important the Intel Rapid Storage Controllers.

The level 2 tech downloaded a full version of Windows 8.1 Pro to my desktop but it is a web install not one that can be copied to an ISO. So even though it is clear that I must reinstall 8.1, doing so with out formatting and setting up the disk controllers before the OS install will not setup the IRST to run my caching on the m-ssd.  I was told that if I set that up I am messing with the Operating System and my system would no longer be covered under my subscription for Assure or Answer Desk.  My explanation did not find any acknowledgement but I felt better saying it.  When we were using Windows XP and for years all we had were EIDE HD's it took some time but Microsoft came around to allowing us to use F6 to setup the SATA controllers.  Now with the ability in almost every UEIF BIOs to set the system to RAID for Caching or a Raid Config. How does this fall into the category of messing with the OS.  Besides with this setup it improves performance in RAM as well as with a 1TB HD running 5400 RPM's. It also helps with ware on the system.

As I said I didn't get anywhere but now I really need help.  I would also like to add that after the install of the Retail ver of Windows 8 Pro my DISM.log was fine and very readable.  I went through the system to look of other issues that were not clearly noticeable and found that the DISM.log in Windows 8.1 Pro is a disaster. I tried to place a copy of part of it at the end of this message but it stopped ie and I have had to rewrite this.

PLEASE DO NOT BLAME THIS ON MY SYSTEM OR THE FIRMWARE.  The system is only 1 year old. It is a Clevo, 16GB of Ram, iCore 7, discrete graphics, and I have never run into anything like this on any other system I have worked on.

I hate to beg but I really need help I don't usually run into system problems I can't work out but not having access to the BIOs with the exception of possible using msconfig. I would only be able to possibly change the boot options and only if I had an ISO with a retail key.  Which I don't have. The download I was told would not be usable with an ISO download using the product key he gave me.  This is the only way I can see to properly install the Intel RST controllers prior to the OS.

Since I don't have a Warranty on the system (I usually don't need one) I can not call the OEM without having them charge me $255 for one support option which they will not guarantee to fix any problems after payment.

So once again I am asking for help I need someone to contact me or a phone number I can use to get help.

Thank you for your time.

I made a mistake and instead of editing my post above I replied to it. You will find it under:

I replied to this post as will because I was able to find a way to get into the BIOs as will as changing the boot order. I downloaded a fresh copy of Windows 8.1 and deleted all the partitions ran a clean install and now I have a very good running Windows 8.1 OS.  If you need more info as to why or how this was done please see the above post thread.  Thank you for your time and help.
