At present I average 40-50 gb usage. I also have a second hard drive, 80 gb, I use as my "backup" hard drive, an ST380011A, I call "D" I am using between 50-55 gb space on it..... I use Norton Ghost Backup program, ver. 12 and back up (mirror image) my entire "C" drive contents to the "D", 80 gb drive. I also back my e-mail and all my downloads to the "D" drive. Would it be advisable to partition the "C" drive into 2 partitions, one main partition about 240 gb I'd call "C" and would be my main drive. I would create a second partition of about 80 gb drive, designation to be determined, in order to provide me with a place to "backup" my "D" drive. Curious............ and thanks for your time and help in advance. Dick Bauer Email removed for privacy E-mail address: Email removed for privacy 1 person needs an answerI do too

No, it would be useless to partition the big main hard drive. You don't want to use the same hard drive for backup. If the drive fails it won't matter that you have two partitions; both partitions will be affected. Purchase a larger internal or external hard drive on which to store your Ghost images and other data backups.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
