Administrator force logoff of locked workstation without Fast User Switching
Is there any way for an administrator to force a user to log off a locked workstation when Fast User Switching is disabled?

I assume you've "disabled" Fast User Switching by the Group Policy Hide entry points for Fast User Switching. Very good question. There is certainly no way at the "locked" screen to enter an alternate user or force a logoff. I suppose you could connect in remotely via RDP, or maybe (if you want to get tricky) schedule a SHUTDOWN /L command to run via remote connection to the Task Scheduler (e.g., via MMC). It's occurred to me that the above policy change isn't really disabling Fast User Switching at all, but just the points of control. What is it you're specifically trying to protect against by "disabling" Fast User Switching? -Noel

This really does not prevent a solution for most Enterprise Support Staff when standing in front of the comptuer. We have submitted several requests to Microsoft with no one able to provide a solution to date. Unless Fast User Switching is enabled, you cannot override the current logged in user while standing in front of the computer. In the case of a Call Center and shared desktops, you could potentially task the resources on a single computer until it is rebooted.

We had the same issues so when a computer is locked I just go back to my machine and run this powershell command to log them off. (gwmi win32_operatingsystem -ComputerName MyServer).Win32Shutdown(0)

I suppose you could always log on and then force the logoff from Task Manager. Messy I know, but it works. Mark M Webster
