Administrator's Privileges Lost
Running XP Pro with SP3, my laptop was operating perfectly until 4 auto updates installed upon shutdow. Now, I have lost ALL admin. priviledges and cannot use system restore OR type in a search question on Windows Help or Explorer. I read that it was the wrong thing to do, but I was set as the ONLY login for the computer. I'm now using my Firefox browser so I at least have the internet. All of my documents are fine. Starting in Safe Mode allows the Administrator login, but I still cannot reset privileges or establish a new account; and even though System Restore is marked to run, no restore points show up. I do have my XP Pro w/SP2 disc, but it may be an upgrade from Windows ME. Can ANYONE tell me what I need to do?1 person needs an answerI do too

Since the problem occurred directly after installing Windows Updates, contact Microsoft for free support:For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY (and/or 1-866-234-6020 and/or 1-800-936-5700) in the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB977165). (Thanks to MVP PA Bear for this information.)If you are not in the United States or Canada, there are local support contact numbers here:http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspxMS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
